Sunny's Pizza- Veyo Utah

12 North Main, Veyo, UT 84782
435-275-6170

Open until 9:00pm
Mon - Sat: 9:00am - 9:00pm
Sun: 9:00 - 1:00pm

This is the second food review I have done for Sunny's Pizza... They have evolved into more than an ordinary pizza joint... Even though there wasn't anything ordinary about them before...

The Mini Mushroom, Olive and Sausage Pizza
My husband and I went over for dinner and I ordered the mini mushrooms, black olive and sausage pizza. I was expecting it to be like the personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut... OH not even close...

The pizza was about 8 slices of oooey gooey goodness... It was enough for two people easily... And what is nice is that it was only 5 bucks... The crust is hand tossed and the ingredients are fresh... What was nice about the pizza is that it wasn't dripping with oil and the crust was crunchy... It was perfectly done!

My husband had the Chicken Alfredo... We were expecting it to be a decent sized plate of pasta... OH not even close again... It was enough to feed a couple people too... My husband loved it... It was perfectly browned to perfection and the cheese was perfect also... They didn't skimp on the ingredients... My husband had to take his to go and he had enough left over for another meal. If you decide to order the Hamburger, Fries and Drink special, you will notice that the fries aren't your typical fries either... This will be an item I will try the next time I go there...
Biscuits and Gravy
They serve breakfast as well... So we had to give that a whirl... The food is all freshly made and the biscuits and gravy were excellent... My husband is not a big fan of hash-browns... But what he said was that their hashbrowns tasted like what I make... When I make hash-browns, I shred them into the pan... I never use frozen potatoes... He enjoyed his breakfast...

Let me warn you though... If you are expecting your food out in a few minutes, you might as well go to McDonalds... This place is run by couple guys who take pride in serving fresh food and they don't do it at a speedy pace... They want it done right and they want you to be happy with your food... You pay for what you get and what you get here is good homemade food... They also deliver to the area around Veyo... They are the only place I know of that does this... Oh and BTW... They serve Pepsi products... A major plus in my book...
Chicken Alfredo
Overall Experience: This is one of the places that you have to drive a ways to get too, but it's worth the drive... When you walk into the place it isn't anything fancy... It is the kind of place you would expect to find in a small town... What set's them apart is this place is in a small town, but they offer big city taste...You won't go wrong when going to Sunny's Pizza... You will not go away hungry...

Lin's Marketplace - Bringing Families Together

We did a food review at the request of some of our readers.... Lin's Marketplace located at 1930 West Sunset Blvd was awesome when it came to helping us put together a great meal at a great price. This is what one of our reviewers had to say about the Cheesy Tortellini Dish:

Importance of Spending time together as a family:

Family Dinner from 1950's
Bonding: A typical scene from the Fifties. A family sits down to a meal and, in the absence of TVs and mobiles, talks through family issues with each other Psychologist Dr Pat Spungin, a parenting expert, said a family should aim to spend at least 20 minutes at the table to help foster meaningful conversations.

She said there were three phases to a meal, all equally important. In the first, communication is mostly practical as the cooking is finished and everyone sits down. Then comes settling in, where the family members exchange small talk.

The final phase is "sweet talk", which Dr Spungin says is crucial to building relationships.Families need to spend significant time together to enjoy in-depth conversations and share their experiences, stories and worries.

Reviewer One Feedback:
The aroma when I walked into the house hit me strong. The meal had been cooking all day long. When I arrived home there were only a few items left that needed to be added in. It was simple to complete for my busy schedule. My husband, not normally a pasta lover, loved the taste and wanted more he even wants for me to make the meal again. My three year old who normally does not want seconds and doesn't usually eat all of his food had all of the food polished off and requested a second plate. The meal overall was delicious, easy and something that I would definitely make again and soon.
Reviewer Two Feedback:
Our family loved this dish and the idea that everything is in one bag. I never tried the Western Family brand and it was just as good if not better then some of the name brand items. Loved the value and flavors. I am hooked on this deal.

Every Monday they offer a special where you can pick up all the ingredients at a discounted price. You are given the recipe and what it takes to cook it up right. They have made it that simple. This is this Monday's dinner...

Lin's Marketplace is one of those stores that is above the rest. Not only are you treated like family, the store is clean and organized. When they say Only the Best, they go by that... Some of the great things about Lin's is that they offer custom made sandwiches in the Service Deli... All the baked goods are made on the spot, not shipped in and frozen. Their store brand is Western Family and they stand behind that brand... Something else that may be of interest to others... Over by the pharmacy they have a section of healthy food options and they have a huge offering of Gluten Free foods...

When it comes to customer service they exceed in that area... The management team of Lin's Marketplace makes it a point to be honest and treat people with respect... If you have a problem, you can talk to any of the management team and they will help you out...

  • Produce FREEbee's! Saturday Only from 7:00am to 11:00am Purchase $15.00 of produce & receive Plenty of fresh produce. Plenty of choices & Plenty of FREE items!
  • Kids Club: If you have children under the age of 13 you can sign them up for the free birthday club. They will receive free magazines and other fun stuff... Every third Saturday they offer fun activities in the store... I'm not sure what time they have Kid's Club, but the leader of it is Sherri...
  • Non Profits: Lin's Marketplace offers something that many of the other stores don't. If you are a non-profit you can talk to the store and they will allow you to get the word out about what you do, fundraiser and raise awareness from the front porch...
  • Pharmacy: You can trust their professional pharmacy team to provide you with the correct prescription at the right price.
  • Specialty Orders: Lin's carries thousands of items to meet your needs. However, if you have a favorite product that they don't have on hand, you can typically find it in their special order section. Click the link below to try Lin's online special order service
  • Online Shopping List: One little perk I like is that they offer on their website the ability to make up your shopping list... You can click on the items from the flyer, add it to your list and you can add items that aren't in the ads... I love this feature... Then I can print it up and I have what I need... Veyo Pies- Veyo Utah

24 S. Main Street, Veyo, UT 84782 · Get Directions

http://www.veyopies.com/
Facebook Page
Open until 7:30 pm
Mon - Sat: 9:00 am-7:30 pm
Sun: 9:00 am-6:00 pm

Oh my goodness... How to even begin with this food review? If you like pies, the drive out to Veyo Pies in Veyo Utah is more than worth the trip... On their website this is how they described their wonderful pie place in Veyo... Veyo Pies is a full line bakery located in Veyo, UT that has evolved from over 25 years of pie making experience! They offer a wide selection of Cream Pies, Fruit Pies, and Pastries. Our dough is made from scratch, hand rolled, and wonderfully flaky.

When I went in I ordered the Coconut Cream Pie... There is a huge variety, but since I was the one picking out, I got my favorite... You can't go wrong when you go into Veyo Pies... Never have I had bad service or a yucky pie, donuts or coffee... One nice perk too is that if you don't want to buy a whole pie, you can get your favorite by the slice...

My piece of coconut cream pie was the perfect balance of sweetness and cream... You can tell that they make their own crusts... They are perfectly flaky and not mushy... I have gotten pies where the bottoms are all nasty and mushy and that is just gross...
I may even venture into Veyo Pies during Christmas and try one of their homemade mince meat pies... I can't stand mince meat... But after hearing theirs is homemade and not from the jar I may give one slice a try...

I brought a Mountain Berry to my friend since she and her husband will drive to Veyo just for the pies at Veyo Pies... I asked her how her pie was and she seemed very pleased... I shared a couple pieces of my coconut cream with her as well... My husband was wondering where his pie was at... He was on the road, so guess his piece is gone... Good thing Veyo pies is just down the street from my house... Makes it really nice...

If you decide you want an awesome pie and want to find Veyo Pies, you can't miss it... Veyo is located about 15 to 20 miles Northwest of St. George on SR 18 on the left hand side... They have a huge red sign out front that you can't miss... If you miss it, then there may be a problem...

They posted this on their website for your information... We do not bake every item on our menu everyday. Please call to find out if we have the pie you want.  Our business is doing great thanks to you, our customers! To place orders please call us at 435-574-2132. For large or special orders we will appreciate it greatly if you place an order at LEAST 1 day ahead of the pick up time! They are also taking orders for Thanksgiving and the deadline to get your orders in are November 15th...

The Dogfather- Washington Utah

The Dogfather
725 W. Telegraph (at The Home Depot), Washington, UT 84780

Today my daughter Jessica, JJ and myself did a review of the Dogfather located in Washington, Utah in front of the Home Depot... In our opinion The Dog Father is the only place worth going to for a good Variety of OUTRAGEOUS Hot Dogs - all beef and/or pork. Array of toppings, not the least of which are grilled onions, steaming sauerkraut, chili, wasabi and the classics. Specials from time to time with some of The Dogfather's original toppings . . They also have a Facebook page where you can check out specials they may post there...

I ordered the Polish Dog with sauerkraut (pictured above by JJ) and they offer Coke products... The Dogfather calls this The Don... I had no problem with my choice... What I enjoyed is that there was a good balance with the kraut and the Polish Sausage... My grandson had a plain hotdog, chips and a drink... I asked JJ what he thought about it and with his mouth full he gave me the thumbs up... My daughter also had a plain hotdog... She is on the Atkins diet, and this was a perfect choice for her...

I think what I liked the most is that the owner of The Dogfather Joe sat down with us and it was like making a new friend...  He is very a personable and friendly guy... I think I may have to adopt the owners, lol... There is something special about The Dogfather and this location... It's hard to put my finger on it... Maybe it's passion for the business or for his customers... I love his sense of humor as well... Gotta love this picture of his gangster...

Joe planted the Dogfather Hotdog cart in front of The Home Depot. April 1st they opened their second location in front of The Home Depot in Provo. It is doing wonderfully and they are so pleased to have an offering that reaches our considerable customer fan base that used to visit the restaurant. They have further expansion plans and invitations for at least 9 additional locations in Northern Utah, but they are evaluating the viability and opting for deliberate methodical growth.

Check out their website:  Home Page
Check out their Faebook Page - Washington Location
Northern Utah Facebook Page

Overall Experience: We loved it... This is casual dining at its best... You can go to Home Depot and pick up what you need and order what you're hungry for... It's simplistic yet awesome... Can't go wrong here... And Joe was great... I love it when the owner comes and visits and sits down with you like you are old friends... I don't know any other place like this...

My name is Sandie Divan and I am the owner of Southern Utah Food Reviews... This review is being done by two new reviewers that have joined the team in helping to bring an honest perspective to restaurants in Southern Utah. Thank you Lynn and Jessie for providing this review for us...

Jesse and Lynn Weaver
This past week I was invited to have lunch at Dickey's BBQ located in Bloomington near Walmart at 2610 Pioneer Road. I admit to being leery about eating there because I'm usually not a barbecue type, but Dickey's changed my mind. First of all, my notions of a barbecue pit complete with flies and greasy food was dispelled by the cleanliness and good food served up by the friendly employees.

My daughter Jesse, friend Bridgette and myself we faced with a wide range of choices from chicken, turkey, pulled pork, and Polish sausage to name a few. Included in the meal options are various side orders which can seem overwhelming to the barbecue novice, but makes ordering a lot of fun. Jesse had the little Hoagie sandwich with turkey, waffle fires and potato casserole. Bridgette had the Chicken Hoagie with side orders of coleslaw and macaroni and cheese. I chose the kid's meal with a Polish sausage sandwich and a side of fried okra. None of us were able to eat all of the food, but we enjoyed the tastes of all the side orders. Best side order was was the potato casserole, with real potatoes, cheese and chives. Yum! The macaroni and cheese was totally consumed, and the fried okra was OK but at least it was on the menu. Also available were free, crisp pickle spears which were a pleasant surprise. I restrained myself from making multiple trips to the pickle jar, but with difficulty. My polish sausage was good, I dipped it in different sauces for variety. One thing we especially liked was that the sandwich bread was not soggy, nor was it over-toasted to make it hard. For once, we all ate the bread. For desert, free ice cream was "on tap", which made me feel like we got a great deal. Put that together with the souvenir cup which can be used for discounted drinks on my next visit, and I know I will be back.

Dickey's BBQ is open on Sunday and kids eat for FREE with each paying adult, which is a no-brainier for me. Dickey's is open daily from 11:00 am-9:00 pm, and has a drive through for added convenience.  On top of all that, Dickey's services include catering with very reasonable prices. St. George is lucky to have a restaurant that really thinks about its patrons by providing quality food choices, a clean and friendly environment and reasonable prices.
                                                 By Lynn Weaver

Last week, Sandie Divan, the creator of Southern Utah Food reviews, gave me the opportunity to participate in a food review at Dickey's BBQ Pit. I was able to try a couple of the sides and a main dish. I had The Little Hoagie, a side of Potato Casserole, and a side of Waffle Fries. The Little Hoagie is a sandwich filled with the meat of your choice, turkey in my case, and the original BBQ sauce. The Potato Casserole was my favorite food out of everything I tried at Dickey's. It has the perfect amount of seasoning and toppings, which truly made it stand out. I was told the Waffle Fries are a popular side at Dickey's. I was hoping the fries would have a unique taste to them, but they were good.
After we were completely satisfied and stuffed from out delicious food, we helped ourselves to free ice cream. Bridgette and I filled our cups with root beer and vanilla ice cream, which, according to the staff, happens all the time!

During our meals, the staff continually walked by, making sure the tables were clean and everything was in order. I was happy to see how much they talked to the customers, always making sure they were happy and enjoying the food.
I know I will be back to Dickey's again for thier fantastic food and outstanding customer service.

Other: Like I said they serve Coke... I'm not a Coke person, but there are other options available.... Even the police officers go there to eat... So how can you go wrong... I love that they offer free ice cream, pickles and that the employees make it an enjoyable experience... There are many options available, you can dine in, carry out, drive through, cater and I am sure there may be other things... Hours- Mon - Sat:7:00 am-9:00 pm, Sun:8:00 am -4:00 pm

My friend Nellie and I decided to go give American Grill a whirl... I was told by a friend that they were way good and had to give it a try....

When you try to find American Grill, you are going to look got Lightfoots Service Station and Carwash.... They are in the same building, but don't be deceived... Hidden treasures are to be found in this All American Grill... Look at this image and you will see that they are located beyond Lava Flow Rd just down the street from the Sand Hallow Pool in Santa Clara... Not the lake...

All American Grill is decorated with images that would make any American proud. They don't hide that they are Americans... The food is prepared fresh as you order the food... What I like is that the fries are made from whole potatoes and not from a bag... We were greeted with a smile when our cashier/server waited for us to come up to her. She was outgoing and friendly...

Nellie ordered the Pastrami Burger along with the fresh cut fries... She was pleased with how the buns was toasted and every ingredient worked well together... There were no over powering flavors, just a happy mouth saying feed me more... There was so much food that she had to take a to go box... For her drink she ordered coffee... There was no complaints about the lunch...

I only had a strawberry cheesecake shake and a coffee... I was thinking about that funny combination and how off the wall that was.... But it worked for me... Overall, we were very happy with our lunch... The place is very convenient too... You can fill up your car and your tummy all at the same time... How can ya go wrong with that?

Overall Experience:

Atmosphere: I love it when people have no problem showing they have pride in being an American...
Price: Very reasonable... I think they also offer daily specials... You can eat here cheaper than McDonalds I would think...
Cleanliness: It was very clean and open...

I don't think you can go wrong by eating here... Give it a try... It may be your next most favorite place to go...

Today was the grand opening of a Pizza Hut. As we walked up to the store the music from Eric Dodge was playing away live and the people were milling around. As I walked in to get a menu and here the great deals, I was greeted by the store manager warmly. I was told about the specials and then was told i could order anytime. My family and I discussed our order and agreed to do it. My son ordered a personal pan with pepperoni for $4. Scott ordered a Supreme P'Zone for $5. My girls and I ordered their large one topping with half pineapple for $6.99. We were told it would take 15-20 minutes because of how busy they were and they got it right out at 18 minutes. It was pipping hot and just what we ordered. We spent a total of $17.15 and it was well worth it. keep up the good work guys and gals. i give this review a Thumbs Up!

Bishops

969 N 3050 E Ste B6
St George, UT 84790
(435) 627-6808
Hours
Mon - Sat: 6:00 am - 9:00 pm
Sun: 6:00 am - 3:00 pm

I have been such a procrastinator about posting this food review... A lot has been going on with me lately and I haven't really been going out to eat much...

Many from this area will remember Bishop's when it was on Telegraph... They closed down for awhile and are now reopened off of Green Springs just down from the Albertson's Plaza on the right hand side... Our family is happy to see them back in business...

We love Bishop's... The best way to describe Bishops is home cooking at it's best... We usually go there on Monday mornings for breakfast... I actually like the breakfasts better... And you just have to try their secret recipe jam... It's awesome on the warm rolls they serve up... They are what I would call All-American... They do have very good coffee for you coffee drinkers...

The night that my husband Chuck, brother-in-law Craig and I went there, I ordered the Liver and Onions... I thought it was pretty good... I think I am the only one in my household for the most part that likes Liver and Onions, so I went for it... The only negative that I have is that I wonder if the mashed potatoes is home made or instant... I'm not really sure... I should have asked our server Rich... BTW he is pretty awesome... He has alot of personality and is a real character.... OK... One perk is that they offer Pepsi products... I am more than OK with that... I am not a coke drinker at all...

My brother-in-law and husband had the Fish and Chips... It was a pretty good deal... The dinner special was around $6.00... They got three pieces of cod and a generous helping of fries...

I asked them how they liked their dinner and they answered in true man style with their mouths full, "They are good", and continued eating, lol... They were few one words, which means in women's terms, they were happy... They had a full tummy by the time all was said and done...

They do have a website, but they are working on it right now... So I would just go check it out off and on... You can find them on Facebook as well...

Overall Experience:

Service: Very good service although it can be slow at times if you go between meals or if there isn't a lot of people working... There have been times we had to wait longer then needed... The servers are very personable and make it right and ok... make sure you have extra time to spare...
Cleanliness:
Very clean
Atmosphere: This is what I would consider a "mom and pop" type of place... You seat yourself and they are friendly... I keep looking for the eclectic decorations that was at the other Bishop's... But otherwise it is family establishment...
Value: You won't have to spend alot to get a good meal here... There is more than enough food on your plate and you may even have to loosen your belt...

The Bent Fork

The Bent Fork Is Now Closed...
When they reopen we will post the new location...

(435) 673-2755
St George
757 N Bluff St
St George, UT 84770

With the unique combination of Italian and Southwest flavors and the attractive, contemporary urban atmosphere at the restaurant, Bent Fork is an exciting new addition to the St. George culinary scene. (Courtesy of their Website)

I remember when the Bent Fork was getting ready to open. I wasn't thinking there was going to be much to it, but that changed soon enough. The name alone intrigued me to want to try it out. After they opened I tried the Green Chili Lasagna and that is what I am doing my review on today...

My friend Jennifer, her daughter and myself went to the Bent Fork for dinner. They have never been there before and I was wanting to do a review, so this was the perfect opportunity to introduce a friend to one of my favorite places to go to for dinner.

Green Chili Lasagna
My choice was the Green Chili Lasagna and it was packed full of flavor with every bite. It was loaded with alot of chicken and no words for how good this dish actually is. I was only able to try a couple of bites of it... But it was good...  My sister ate 90% of it and she loved it from what she said...With this dish you will get three layers of smoked chicken, house made pasta, cheese and Green Chile sauce… You also get your choice of soup or salad. Tonight I tried the Chicken Tortilla Soup which I have to say was awesome...

Chicken Tortilla Soup
The Chicken Tortilla Soup had the right balance of spicy. I loved it and would love to have the recipe for it. The soup was topped with festive red, blue and white crispy tortilla chips... This was way yummy.

Something that is really nice about the Bent Fork is that they offer Coke products as their main options. However they found a way around us that have no like whatsoever for Coke. They will let you order Pepsi products by the can. On the menu it does state that there is no free refills for drinks purchased that way. I am fine with that personally since I have a real dislike for Coke and to be able to get my Diet Pepsi with dinner is great in whatever form.

My friend Jennifer ordered the Chicken Parmesan with a side salad and she was really happy with her dinner. She had a very generous serving of both pasta and chicken. She was able to take hers home and share with her husband. She ordered their special lemonade... I have to say, if you like lemonade, you need to try this. It is very good and it's not made from a package. For her desert she ordered the Chocolate cake, but she ended up taking that home also... I have had this before and OMG... If this was the last dessert you had before dying, you would have to choose this one...

Ravioli's
Her daughter Heidi ordered the Ravioli. She didn't say much, but I knew she must have been happy over her choice... She was telling her mom, "Wow, you should try this". I have never tried this one, but I may have to sometime. Heidi also took home her dessert. She ordered one of my other favorites and that is the Chocolate Cheesecake... It is a chocolate lovers dream. When I have ordered this dessert, I had to share it.

Over All Experience:

Service: Excellent! We were greeted right away and seated. Our waitress was awesome and the owner even came over to our table to make sure everything was good.
Cleanliness: Very Clean
Atmosphere: I love how creative they are with their forks on the wall... You can tell they had fun with designing this place... Who would have known you could bend a fork so many ways?
Value: I believe you get what you pay for... I would say that the prices are moderate...

Other Information:

They do have a website and facebook page... You can read more about the Bent Fork... You won't regret going there and trying them out... If you are thinking you want to go somewhere different, this may be a good choice for you.

Dinner Hours:
  • Monday - Thursday, 4pm - 9pm
  • Friday & Saturday, 4pm - 10pm

I forgot to add that they offer a fish and chips dinner now... I haven't tried it, but I am hoping too... If they have gift certificates (Hint Hint Bridgette).... This may be a good thing, lol

Tuesday

The Brick Oven- St. George Utah

435-628-5800.
1410 E. St George Blvd
10:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. - Mon – Thursday
10:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. - Friday  - Saturday

My husband, grandson and myself went to the Brick Oven in St. George Utah yesterday and found that it was better than the first time I went there. I have to say though that the first time I went there was shortly after they opened and this was the first time I have been back, all thanks to the Dixie Direct Card.

As we entered the restaurant, we were greeted and seated promptly. The first thing I noticed was that they weren't a regular pizza joint. The decor was awesome.! I even told my husband that I liked the decor more than Olive Garden. It has a homey fill to it.

My husband ordered the Calzone and was pleased with it. He is pretty picky about his food, so I was glad they had things on the menu that was good for him.The Calzone was loaded with hot cheese and pepperoni. The cheese flowed out of the Calzone as you would expect it to.  We ordered the side salad that came with it for myself. I recently ate breakfast, so I chose not to order anything today. The only negative and it was entirely my own fault is that I should have ordered the dressing on the side like I normally do. I wasn't pleased with the dressing, but that is only because I'm not much of a person for dressing on my salads.

My grandson JJ ordered the Chicken Nuggets with Mandarin Oranges... They offered a generous serving to JJ and we had to take them home with us. He loved the Mandarin Oranges... He was happier with them than anything else. His meal also came with garlic bread and a child's drink. They made their own root beer and he was very happy with it. He ended his meal with one of their big lollipops.  They offer a birthday club for the children which is awesome... I know my grandson loves getting his birthday cards in the mail that is addressed to him.

I am going to at some point do a followup review of the Soup and Salad Bar when I go there next unless someone wants to give me a gift certificate (hint to my niece, lol). It would be nice to see how they do for dinner that includes the pizza and salad bar since that is what they are known for.

Over All Experience:  JJ says it is a Thumbs Up

Service: Very Good- Our waitress was there to refill and friendly
Price: The lunches are very reasonable and they have a lunch special that is $5.99. That is for the Soup, Salad and Bread sticks...
Cleanliness: Very Clean
Atmosphere:  I really enjoyed the atmosphere and it was very relaxed.

There was one negative for both my husband and I and that is that they offer coke products. They do offer alternatives such as root beer, tea and water.

Picnic Food Review - Focus on the Family

I am working on a special project for Southern Utah Food Reviews... Normally I do restaurants... My thought is since Easter is on April 24th, 2011 to do a food review of the best kind... It will be Family Time in the Park...

April 9th, 1pm-3pm

Fire House Park
1800 N Dixie Downs Rd Dixie Downs -Not Far from Snow Canyon Parkway on Dixie Downs- St. George

There is no cost other than what you purchase and choose to do with your family/friends...

The idea is to show everyone that it's great to go out to eat, but even better to spend quality time with your family and friends... If you are just a couple, that is great too...

The ending time is approximate, depending on what your family will be doing...

What to Bring:

Your Family, Friends or Neighbors
Picnic Food/Drinks for your Family and group... Other groups will not be eating each others food... So bring what you normally would...
Games... If you play games at the park or bring your pet, they do have a pet area that is alot of fun... So bring what you normally would to a picnic... They do have areas where you can grill at as well... If this is your thing, I believe you can do that there...  Our family has even gone to McDonald's or where ever and brought the food to the park...

You may want to bring a blanket to sit on just in case there are no tables available...

P.S. There is a dog park...If you normally bring your pets with you, then you can bring them...

I will be taking pictures and if we find that the weather is bad, we will be rescheduling it... In April it is hard to know what is what... If you would like to help with this project, then please RSVP to this special invitation to Focus on the Family...

Not sure if there is going to be any music... If someone volunteers to sing or bring a group, then that would be awesome...

Monday

Bishops- Now Open in Washington Utah

Bishops Restaurant
961 N 3050 e #B-6 St George, UT 84790

If anyone in Southern Utah has ever been to Bishops that was located in Washington by the Red Cliffs In on Green Springs and Telegraph, you will be happy to know they are now re-opened... They use to be where the Dorthea's is at now, the have moved and our family is very happy about that for our Monday morning breakfasts...

We walked in there today because we were confused if it was the same Bishops or a different one, plus they had a sign up that said "Coming Soon" and then another that said "Now Open"... We went in and found out that today was the first day they were opened and yes, they are the same owners of the other Bishops...

We had a really good breakfast today and had great service... They have always been reasonably priced.. I will actually be doing a full review of them when they have been open for a few weeks or so... That way they can get everyone trained and all the equipment and such that is needed... It was nice having our breakfast place back in town... They offer breakfast, lunch and dinner...

They are now located in the shopping center that is behind the Albertsons Plaza, and on the same side... Previously in the same location was Rise and Dine and Sils... I'm not sure of the name of the plaza...

Welcome Back Bishops

Wednesday

Red Dog Cafe- Dammeron Valley, Utah

With Great Sadness the Red Dog Cafe closed it's doors on September 24th, 2011... We will miss them in our community... Good luck Danny and Andrea and the gang.

I have to say that this is my most favorite place to eat at. When you walk into the Red Dog you feel like you came home. I love the atmosphere and the food is home-style cooking. I went to their Facebook page and pulled this information up from their description:

Where home-style cookin' meets authentic slow-smoked BBQ for the best food from sun-up to sundown in Southern Utah! (just 15 minutes from St. George, up Snow Canyon.)

1090 N Highway 18
Dammeron Valley, UT 84783
(435) 574-3600

My  husband and I decided to go out for breakfast at the Red Dog today. We eat breakfast at funny times and it is great that you can have it anytime at the Red Dog Cafe. If my grandson JJ knew we went here, he would not be impressed, he loves this place too...

Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs
Today we both ordered the Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs. I would have to say that they have the best Chicken Fried Steak around. I have been to many places where it taste like it came out of a bag that was shipped from a place that uses cardboard as the main ingredient. That is not the case at the Red Dog.  The Chicken Fried Steak was thick, not dry and topped with country gravy.  Although I must warn you that this is a dish that can satisfy even the hungriest person and they are very generous in serving this breakfast. With this choice it comes with hash-browns, toast and eggs. I also ordered Rye Toast, my eggs were medium well and hash-browns. My eggs were perfect! I am so picky about my eggs and I have issues if they are served all slimy. I won't go into what I think about slimy eggs, but lets just say NASTY! Everything was hot, fresh and delicious.

Debra
I think I caught our waitress by surprise when I told her I was going to do a food review of the Red Dog today. Normally I don't mention names in my reviews, but I got her permission and her picture. Our waitresses name was Debra and she is a hoot.  Even the first time she served us, it was like we have known her forever. She has a great personality and is fast and getting items to where they need to be... If you happen to go in there and see Debra,  make sure you say hey, I betcha she will say hey back :)

Pies... Oh my goodness, there is no way to forget the pies at the Red Dog Cafe. Although I had breakfast I had to finish it off with a piece of freshly made Coconut Cream Pie... Heaven is the only way to describe the pies there... When I get to Heaven, I know there has to be pies from the Red Dog there and there will be Coconut Cream, Black Forest Cheese Cake, Chocolate and Banana Cream and that is to only name a few of the many selections they offer there... I wasn't able to finish my pie, but what I ate was out of this world good...

There is only one negative about the Red Dog and that is my own personal thing... If you all have read my reviews, I am a Pepsi person and they serve Coke products. But they do have Ice Tea, Coffee, Water and I am sure there are other things there...

Over all Experience:

Service: Wonderful
Price: Very Affordable and they have coupons in the Dixie Direct as well as daily specials. I used my Dixie Direct today and got one of our meals free. They do sell them there if you are looking for one... Way worth the price and pays for itself the first couple times you use it.
Cleanliness: Very Clean
Atmosphere: You will find this is a family friendly place that is run mostly by family members. When you come in you can hear the wood crackling in the fireplace, wood floors and cute pictures of the owners bull dog...

Additional Note: If you don't see something on the menu, do not be afraid to ask. Many times I have had to have something special and they have gone out of their way to accommodate my special diet.  Everything is made fresh there and although I did have breakfast one of my favorite menu items are the ribs... You have got to try these melt in your mouth ribs. You will not be disappointed.

Dammeron Valley is about 15 miles out of St. George as you are heading towards Pine Valley, but it is well worth the trip... Please note that they are closed on Sunday and Mondays...

I came across this video on youtube when looking for their address... What a find that was, lol... Now it makes me even more hungry and I just got back from there... I wonder if they would consider a delivery of yummy ribs, lol JK Red Dog...
