Sun: 6:00 am - 3:00 pm

I have been such a procrastinator about posting this food review... A lot has been going on with me lately and I haven't really been going out to eat much...

Many from this area will remember Bishop's when it was on Telegraph... They closed down for awhile and are now reopened off of Green Springs just down from the Albertson's Plaza on the right hand side... Our family is happy to see them back in business...

We love Bishop's... The best way to describe Bishops is home cooking at it's best... We usually go there on Monday mornings for breakfast... I actually like the breakfasts better... And you just have to try their secret recipe jam... It's awesome on the warm rolls they serve up... They are what I would call All-American... They do have very good coffee for you coffee drinkers...

The night that my husband Chuck, brother-in-law Craig and I went there, I ordered the Liver and Onions... I thought it was pretty good... I think I am the only one in my household for the most part that likes Liver and Onions, so I went for it... The only negative that I have is that I wonder if the mashed potatoes is home made or instant... I'm not really sure... I should have asked our server Rich... BTW he is pretty awesome... He has alot of personality and is a real character.... OK... One perk is that they offer Pepsi products... I am more than OK with that... I am not a coke drinker at all...

My brother-in-law and husband had the Fish and Chips... It was a pretty good deal... The dinner special was around $6.00... They got three pieces of cod and a generous helping of fries...

I asked them how they liked their dinner and they answered in true man style with their mouths full, "They are good", and continued eating, lol... They were few one words, which means in women's terms, they were happy... They had a full tummy by the time all was said and done...

They do have a website, but they are working on it right now... So I would just go check it out off and on... You can find them on Facebook as well...

Overall Experience:

Service: Very good service although it can be slow at times if you go between meals or if there isn't a lot of people working... There have been times we had to wait longer then needed... The servers are very personable and make it right and ok... make sure you have extra time to spare...
Cleanliness:
Very clean
Atmosphere: This is what I would consider a "mom and pop" type of place... You seat yourself and they are friendly... I keep looking for the eclectic decorations that was at the other Bishop's... But otherwise it is family establishment...
Value: You won't have to spend alot to get a good meal here... There is more than enough food on your plate and you may even have to loosen your belt...

Bishops- Now Open in Washington Utah

Bishops Restaurant
961 N 3050 e #B-6 St George, UT 84790

If anyone in Southern Utah has ever been to Bishops that was located in Washington by the Red Cliffs In on Green Springs and Telegraph, you will be happy to know they are now re-opened... They use to be where the Dorthea's is at now, the have moved and our family is very happy about that for our Monday morning breakfasts...

We walked in there today because we were confused if it was the same Bishops or a different one, plus they had a sign up that said "Coming Soon" and then another that said "Now Open"... We went in and found out that today was the first day they were opened and yes, they are the same owners of the other Bishops...

We had a really good breakfast today and had great service... They have always been reasonably priced.. I will actually be doing a full review of them when they have been open for a few weeks or so... That way they can get everyone trained and all the equipment and such that is needed... It was nice having our breakfast place back in town... They offer breakfast, lunch and dinner...

They are now located in the shopping center that is behind the Albertsons Plaza, and on the same side... Previously in the same location was Rise and Dine and Sils... I'm not sure of the name of the plaza...

Welcome Back Bishops

Sunday

Dorthalee's Café: Location: Washington City Utah

Dorthalee's - Washington City Utah

 Dorthalees's Is Now Closed...

My husband I usually go out for breakfast on Mondays because he leaves for out of town then. For the past couple of times we decided to give Dorothalees a try. For the most part it is ok. The prices are good for what you get. But I have found that the service isn't that great.

I ordered the mushroom and swiss omelet. With that you get hash browns and toast. I believe it was only $4.95 for that and then I had coffee. For the price it was good. But the flavor was ok, but kinda on the bland side. My husband is fonder of Rise and Dine down the street.

If you have been out to Washington or lived here for some time. You may know the location of Dorthalees. It use to be called Bishops and then the Tumbleweed moved in there. From what I gather, the Tumbleweed is still part owners of it. I do have to say, the inside is very nice. In the back of my mind though, I believe people still are thinking about Bishops being in there, the prices and the down home feel. I know when I go in there, I can't help but think about the warmth the place use to have and the atmosphere. You knew what to expect and you got that. You got the joking around and the family feel. I do not feel that now when I go into Dorothalees. It has a bit of a standoffish crew. They all dress in black and white and look nice. But it just doesn't feel like a warm atmosphere and very friendly.

The past couple of times we have been there as well, they have ran out of something. But like I said, the price is good.

If you want food, this is a place to eat at and for me that's about it. There isn't anything great about the place, but it is what it is. The type of foods you will find there eggs, pancakes, french toast , omletes and normal breakfast items, a variety of sandwiches, burgers and salads for lunch. The dinner menu offered choices such as BBQ Ribs, meatloaf, chicken fried steak and pot roast.

Below is a rundown of the information, location and prices...Speaking of prices, if you order drinks, after 2 be ready to pay for refills. Plus they have coke products. And if you know me, that's not cool.

Sandie's Rating System:

Product Quality: OK, but not great
Price- Low-Moderate: $2.95 to $5.95 for breakfast, $5.95 to 8.95 for lunch, $7.95 to $15.95 for dinner.
Location: 910 W. Red Cliffs Dr., Washington City.
Hours: 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
Contact: 251-9008
Service: OK, but not friendly
Speed:Fairly Fast
Cleanliness- Very Clean
Atmosphere- If you're looking for a great dining experience, Dorthalee's probably isn't the place for you. It is pretty much a typical diner type of atmosphere, minus the friendliness. However, if you're looking for a meal that relatively inexpensively, you should give them a try.

Please note that I gave this a negative review only because it isn't one of those places that is real good or great at service. But if cheap is good for you, then go for it.
