Carl's Jr/Green Burrito

1624 W Sunset Blvd
Saint George, UT 84770
Mon-Sat:6am - 11pm, Sun:7am - 10pm

My grandson and I decided to go to Carl's Jr after he got out of preschool... Normally on Weds I will pick him up from school and take him out and then take him to Karate lessons...  This week was no different... Except he wanted to go to Carl's Jr since they are fast... That was not the case at all...
As soon as we walked in, I was thinking it would be pretty fast since there was only one other family there and they were already eating... NOPE! I was wrong... They were slower than I expected... There was 3-4 employees there... One was sweeping and not sure what the others were or weren't doing... We ordered a kids meal for him... And I ordered a basic bacon cheeseburger... Nothing fancy... I also had a Diet Coke... They do have other options for fountain drinks if you aren't a Coke drinker like me...
Eventually we got our food with about 5 minutes to spare... My grandson gets out of school at 3:15 and we had arrived a few minutes after that... We had to leave around 10 till 4 to get him to karate lessons... That will tell you how long it took to get our order... I was a bit ticked by this time... In my opinion cold fries are nasty and inedible... And that's how I would have taken pictures of the food, but it took so long and we had to rush... My grandson got to take 2 bites out of his food and that was about it...
I do want to give credit to the one off of I15 and and the mall area... They have much faster service and I have never had a problem with that location...
I did try to the Green Burrito and I don't see what the big deal is about them... If I want a good burrito or one somewhat good and have little time, I will go to Taco Time on St. George Blvd or Taco Bell on Sunset... I'm not much for fast food and this is where JJ wanted to go... Let's say that this GG will over ride that option next time, lol...
I would have to give this a thumbs down review... Unless something changes drastically, this is a location I wouldn't go to again... Just my opinion...

Buca di Beppo is best described as a family-style Italian restaurant... If you don't know what that means, it is simple... When you sit down at your dinner table at home and your mom or whoever prepares your food, they place it on the table and you pass the plates around and enjoy each others company... This is what you get Buca di Beppo's... It's like having a family dinner in a restaurant without the cleanup... OH YEAH...

The first thing I noticed was the decor... Since moving to St. George, I don't think I have seen a place like this...

At first when we looked at the menu we were thinking it was a bit pricey... That was until our waiter explained to us that it is Family-Style dining...I happen to like this form of going out to dinner...If I was to open a restaurant, family dining is the kind I would go for...

The atmosphere was awesome and fun... You felt like you were in an Italian Restaurant and Mamma was in the kitchen cooking... A plus for me too is when you walk into a restuarant whether it is Mexican, American or Italian, you would want to hear the music from that country... Atleast I do... I would say they hit a home run with bringing Italy to St. George, Utah...

My husband and I ordered the Chicken Parmasean with a side a garlic mash potatoes... The chicken was boneless chicken breast that was lightly breaded and fried... So many times many places over bread and you don't get the full flavor of the meat... This was not the case...We also tried the Penne San Remo... Now this is my kind of pasta... It has artichoke hearts, tender chicken breast, peas, sun-dried tomatoes and nestled together in a spicy rosa sauce...There was so much food, we had to take it home and then have some tomorrow...

They have a very large selection of pastas, pizza, breads and the list goes on... You can check out their online menu... It will give you a better idea... They do dine in, carry out, parties, catering and not sure what else...

In the ladies restroom...
OK ladies, if you have to go to the little girls room... You have to check out some of the pictures in there, lol... Really there are alot of awesome pictures and memorabilia all over the place...

They also have this room called the Popes Room... It is way cool... Really the whole place is interesting... If people weren't eating, I would have taken alot of pictures and looked around more...

As we were being seated, they brought out warm bread and a major plus for me is that they serve Pepsi products... Oh yeah... This is my kind of place...I was very surprised to hear that they have only been open a couple of days... The waiters, hostesses and manager had it down... They were all great and personable... One of the main things I notice when I go to a restaurant is how the manager interacts with his staff and the customers... Only a handful of managers that I have seen will go out and make sure everything is OK and talk to the guests... Brendon S. was the manager I talked to as he was making his rounds... I appreciate when a manager can take the time to find out how his restaurant is doing and interacting with everyone... That is a good manager...

The Popes Room
One of the interesting thing that I don't find in many places is that they offer a gluten free menu...With how many people have problems with gluten, myself included, this is great...

Overall Experience: Magnifico... I will for sure be going back there... Next time I think I will have to try their desserts... They look so yummy...

For those who have been in St. George for awhile, Bucas is where the old Ruby Tuesdays was at... It is outside the Red Cliffs Mall along Redcliffs Drive...

Camille's Sidewalk Cafe- St. George, Utah

661 East. St. George Blvd. St. George Utah 84770
435-767-9727
 Hours-7am-8pm m-Thurs and 7am-9pm Fri-Sat
Closed on Sundays

I wasn't sure what was on the menu since I didn't check out the menu before heading over there... Friends of mine wanted us to do a review and this was the perfect opportunity to do that...

 Napa Valley Chicken Panini
Orders are taken at the counter... I was a bit overwhelmed with how big the menu was... I didn't know where to start at... I ordered the Napa Valley Chicken Panini... It was toasted to perfection... This choice had grilled chicken breast, provolone cheese, sundried tomato pesto, mushrooms, red onions and balsamic glaze... It was a perfect balance of flavor... We had a coupon in that we obtained from the value pak mailing... My choice came with tri-corn chips and salsa... I would say the only thing I wasn't too fond of is that the mushrooms tasted like they were canned... I don't know for sure, but that was the feeling I got when I bit into the Panini...

My brother in law ordered a Club Nouveau Wrap... That was filled with turkey breast, jasmine rice, romaine lettuce, tomatoes, parmesan, pesto-mayo and ceasar dressing... I asked him how he liked his choice and he said it was good... He did seem to be pleased with his selection... His wrap also came with the tri-colored corn chips...

They offer Coke products in addition to teas, coffee, and bottled drinks... I'm not a fan of Coke, but thankfully they have other things to drink :) They have a pretty good size selection of beverages... They also offer smoothies...

There is many great offerings on their menu... The headings on their menu selections include;
  • Breakfast Items
  • Kids Menu
  • Wraps. Natu-Wraps
  • Grilled Hot Wraps
  • Sandwiches
  • Create Your Own- Half Sandwhich, Soups and Salads...
  • Panini's
  • Flatbread Pizza's
  • Salads
  • Soups
  • Desserts
  • Low Carb Offerings
  • Smoothies
Needless to say, there is alot to choose from... I don't think you will go wrong when you go here... I would say that if you are looking for a hamburger and hotdog joint, this is not the place to go...

They also have free Wi-Fi... It is very clean and it has a positive and relaxing place to go to... They do offer coupons through mailing and you may come across one in other places... I'm not sure of where the coupons are all located at... If the owners come over and read the review, maybe they can let us know... They also offer catering, dine in and carry out...

I must say that the cheesecake they have there looked awesome... That is something I will have to try the next time I go there...

The only negative is I had a hard time trying to get into Camille's Sidewalk Cafe and it wasn't their fault... We came in off of St. George Blvd heading towards the freeway... And we had to make a left at the light and go through another parking lot... Then we had to go down a steep decline that is pretty sharp... If you are coming down St. George Blvd heading towards Bluff Street, it is really easy... I'm really bad at knowing my North, East, South and West... If you have questions, I would call Camille's, they could give you better directions :)

Overall Experience: This is a place where I would take a friend for a nice relaxing lunch... I will for sure be going back to try out some of the other menu items... I would give it a thumbs up... I liked that the item I ordered was light and it was the perfect size... I wasn't fond of the salsa... But that is only because it is a sweeter salsa and I like something with a bite to it...  My brother in law really liked it...The service was fast and friendly... The have inside seating which is where we sat... It is too hot around here to sit outside right now in the middle of the day... But if it was in the evening or morning, I could see us sitting outside on the patio... It's a very nice place that isn't overly priced...

It has been a very long time since I was last at the Outback Steakhouse in St. George, Utah... Usually when I go past the Zion Factory Outlets, it's too late for me to turn into the Outback... I have never had bad service, it was mostly due to timing...

I was very pleased with the service we received today...  When we first arrived we were immediately seated and less than a minute Jessica was there with the warm bread and butter... She then took our orders for drinks... The one thing I don't like, but many will is that they serve Coke instead of Pepsi... It is just a personal preference of mine... But they do offer other selections in case you don't like Coke... I decided on the Ice Tea... Jessica was great, I never had a empty glass...

Blooming Onion- Picture courtesy of Outbacks Website
My guest and I then went to order our meal and we both decided on the Baby Back Ribs and they came with fries... Here in Utah fry sauce is a big thing and even though they don't have it on the menu, they were happy to accommodate us and make some up for us... This was one of those times when it is nice to see a restaurant go out of their way to please the customer... We did order an appetizer and that was the Blooming Onion. As described on their website this special onion is hand-carved by a dedicated bloomologist, cooked until golden and ready to dip into our spicy signature bloom sauce.

Baby Back Ribs
Our food arrived shortly there after and it was hot and the ribs fell off the bones... I really liked how they put the BBQ sauce on the side and I had the option of dipping it or eating the rids with the dry rub on them... For me, I didn't think it needed more BBQ sauce... The ribs stood up to the flavor and didn't have to be masked by more sauce... Here is the description of the ribs from thier website... These fall-off-the-bone ribs are exactly the way ribs should be. Succulent and saucy, each rack is smoked, grilled to perfection and brushed in a tangy BBQ sauce. Served with Aussie Fries...

The manager Ramee came over to our table to make sure everything was good... One thing that impresses me is when the manager of an establishment will take the time to come out to talk to the customer... Too bad other restaurants don't do this... It's nice to know that they care about the customer and that they are having a good experience... Even the server Stacy (Gentleman) was great... He was professional and made sure everything was good...

On a side note: Outback Steakhouse has #1 Zagat Rated Best Steak... Below is information taken from their website and restaurants strive for this rating...

Their Hours of Operation...
Over All Experience: This is a place I would go back too... It was reasonably priced, clean and they offered great service... They do have offer alcoholic drinks... I would say that this was a thumbs up experience... Next time I go, I will have to try the deserts :) The portions are generous and we didn't have room for desert... Maybe next time I will start with it...

If you go to their website you can sign up for coupons and view their menu among other things... I will be adding images of the food later... The ones I took didn't come out well...

Monday

Taco Bell, Santa Clara Utah

1418 West Sunset Boulevard  St. George, UT 84770
(435) 674-2314

July, 17th, 2012 - Update: Today I ventured back to the Taco Bell on Sunset Blvd in St. George... I was pleasantly surprised by how clean it was... The service was good and there is a new General Manager... She has been there for three weeks now... Her name is Latasha... The crew member Karli that waited on me was very pleasant and friendly... The manager was on her toes and  seemed to really care about what the customers thought... A much better energy at Taco Bell Sunset...

May, 28th, 2012- Today, my husband and I revisited Taco Bell on Sunset Blvd in St. George Utah... This wasn't a very good experience at all... The tables were dirty, and employees were standing around in the back chatting to each other instead of cleaning the lobby between customers... After a short time more customers came in that had larger families and they had no clean tables to sit at...

My Volcano Taco
Actual Volcano Taco- Should Look Like This
A week or two ago I ordered the Volcano Tacos with a large drink... I wanted it put in a combo and I know from personal experience that they can make a combo out of the tacos by charging for the difference of the added sauce... Instead they charged almost $10.00 for a drink and 4 tacos... Of which they should have just charged for one extra taco and an additional 30 cents for the sauce... But that isn't the way it went... The tacos are suppose to have the volcano shells and they were the regular shells... There is a difference in taste even though they tried to convince we otherwise... Even today, the cashier on duty didn't bother to tell me that they ran out of volcano shells and they would have to use the regular corn shells... Had they done that, I would have expected it... Instead they assumed that it was OK and they didn't say if they were out or not... For me there is a difference in flavor between the shells...

Taco Bell is one of those places that I don't go too very often... One of the main reasons I do go there is because it is my husbands favorite place... But overall the food quality is not good... I was watching The Biggest Loser when Jillian was still on there... She was eating what the contestants were eating or would eat in a sitting... Taco Bell was on the menu for one of the ladies and Jillian had to eat whatever was on the plate... I have to say that compared to real food, it looked pretty nasty... My husband would disagree with me on this one... He could live on Taco  Bell, or should I say he could die from all the salt and preservatives that is put in the food... He ordered the Enchirto with no onions and a Steak Quesadilla...

Either way, my visit to this Taco Bell was not what I was hoping for and my order was messed up again... Maybe it is a good thing that my order was messed up because it isn't a place I would return to unless my husband was throwing a temper tantrum that he wants to eat this unhealthy food... There are ways to make it healthier, but I have a feeling it would confuse them if you tried to explain it to them... It sounds as if I'm bashing this location and I guess in some ways I am... Not all Taco Bells is this way and I have to say that the GM when I talked to him on the phone was helpful... He was off work today or I would have talked to him about this... Laziness and cleanliness says alot to me when it comes to the pride of a restaurant and the quality of food they are putting out... It may be a long time till I go here and only due to the prompting of my husband who doesn't care what he eats...

Friday

Black Bear Dinner- St. George Utah

Black Bear Diner
1245 South Main Street
St George, UT 84770
435-656-2327
Hours : M- Sun 6am-10pm

When The Black Bear Diner moved into St. George, I have to say that it was intriguing... Little by little the bears were coming out and I was looking forward to trying this place... I ate at a Black Bear Diner in AZ and loved it then and I have to say that I love it just as much now... This is a family style diner that focuses on home cooked meals...

When you walk into the Black Bear you will see cute black bears all around you... They make me want to give them a big bear hug... It's a very woodsy type of decor at the Black Bear Dinner...

Chicken Potpie with Grilled Vegetables
I have gone to the Black Bear a number of times and have never had any problems with my food... One of the few places that I never had to send back my eggs because they were under cooked... One of the really nice things is that they serve Pepsi products... This is a thumbs up for me...

Bacon Cheeseburger and Fries- Cooked to Perfection
Today I ordered the Chicken Pot Pie... The crust was flaky and it was pipping hot... The fresh grilled vegetables were perfect... They weren't soggy or mushy... The quantity of food is over the top... You can easily take some home for a second meal... If you notice that you are beginning to get full and you are thinking about dessert... I would venture into the great unknown and try the blackberry cobbler ala mode... OH MY GOODNESS! It has the perfect balance of sweetness and tartness... This is my favorite dessert at the Black Bear Dinner... I would ask the waitress/waiter for a to go container for the main course and try the cobblers... It will be worth the price and you won't be disappointed... I could hear people around me raving about the bear claws and the other dishes they ordered...

Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs
The others that were with me decided on the Chicken Fried Steak and the Bacon Cheeseburger... They thoroughly enjoyed their choices and had enough to take home with them...

I should note that when I order breakfast at the Black Bear Diner, you have to try the hash browns and home fries... They are to die for... I always order a side of country gravy since I like that with my potatoes... But they stand alone in taste... One of my favorite dishes is their breakfast and that is the Chorizo Scramble... Chorizo is a Mexican sausage and is a bit spicy... But OHHHHHH so delicious...

Blackberry Cobbler with Ice Cream
Our waiter was fast and functional... We never had to wait for a refill and the manager was great... One of the first things I notice when I go into a restaurant is see how the interaction is with customers and owners if they are there... The manager of the Black Bear Diner was greeting customers and made himself available to those around him... He had no problem jumping in and helping out where needed... At times that would be if the floors needed swept or checks being rung up... This is the kind of place that would seem to have a good staff of employees who has a manager that respects them...

You will be very happy with the Black Bear Diner... Do much so that your plate will look like our plate when you leave... Check out the photo below...

Closing thoughts; The Black Bear Diner is reasonably priced, clean and friendly...
